The device has a signal generator (16) to generate a periodic comparison signal (d) of trapezoidal shape, where the frequency of the signal is equal to that of the pulse width modulation (PWM) frequency. The shape of the comparison signal depends on one of the two input signals (a, b). A comparator (18) compares the signal (b) with the comparison signal and provides a PWM signal (x) at an output of the comparator. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a regulation circuit with a pulse width modulation signal generating circuit device (b) a process for generation of PWM signal.
