The procedure involves disposing a lens (4) in a support by fixing an adaptor of the support on a face of the lens by suction discs. A train of grinding wheels (5) is rotated around an axis in a direction. The lens contacts one wheel to be rotated in another direction opposite to former direction around another axis. The distance between the two axes is adjusted according to angular position of the lens around the latter axis. An Independent claim is also included for a machine for grinding ophthalmic lens.
