New interfering RNA, useful for treating cancer, autoimmune diseases and neurodegeneration, selectively inhibits expression of isoforms of the adenine nucleotide translocator

An interfering RNA (iRNA) that selectively inhibits expression of an isoform of the adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT), is new. The RNA is a duplex in which each strand contains 18-25, preferably 21, nucleotides, and one strand is highly homologous with a fragment of mRNA encoding an ANT isoform. An Independent claim is also included for a construct containing at least one iRNA or DNA sequences that encode each strand of iRNA.
