<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that efficiently cools a processing cartridge and to provide the processing cartridge used in the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An air-intake fan 96 and an exhaust fan 98 are disposed on the both sides across the processing cartridge 44 and opposite to the processing cartridge 44. A vent hole 90 is formed in the shutter 84 of the processing cartridge 44. A stream of air is produced between the main body 46 of the processing cartridge and the shutter 84 via the vent hole 90.
