<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodetector which has a wide dynamic detection range of incident light intensity and can rapidly detect the incident light intensity. <P>SOLUTION: In the photodetector, each photodiode PD<SB>m, n</SB>generates charges Q in accordance with the incident light intensity, and each charge level estimating circuit 10<SB>m, n</SB>disposed in relation to the photodiodes PD<SB>m, n</SB>estimates the charges Q generated by the photodiode PD<SB>m, n</SB>and outputs a level signal (Level) representing results of the level estimation, and an integral capacity section 21 in an integral circuit 20<SB>m</SB>sets values of capacitance based on the input level signals (Level) which are sequentially output from respective N charge level estimating circuits 10<SB>m,1</SB>-10<SB>m, N</SB>, and the integral circuit 20<SB>m</SB>makes the integral capacity section 21 store the charges Q which are sequentially output from respective N photodiodes PD<SB>m, 1</SB>-PD<SB>m, N</SB>and input to its input terminal, and outputs a voltage value V<SB>20</SB>from its output terminal in accordance with the amount of stored charges Q. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
