<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can realize power saving, noise reduction, extension of the life of a cooling fan by making it possible to stop unnecessary drive of the cooling fan without making processing complex, in an image forming apparatus constructed so that the energy consumption efficiency of a device main body is less than 120Wh/h and switching takes place between a specific print mode and a standby mode according to an operation state. <P>SOLUTION: When the operation mode is shifted to the standby mode, except a case where the operation mode returns to the print mode, the cooling means is driven for only a predetermined length of time and then stopped. Also, even in a case where the operation of turning off the power source of the device main body is performed during the drive of the cooling means, the power source of the device main body is shut off after the cooling means is driven for the predetermined length of time.
