<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus made efficient by exerting control so that a sub-control section performs fixing warmup without waiting for a fixing control instruction from a main control section, thereby shortening time from turning on of a power source to the completion of the warmup. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the main control section that manages and controls the conditions of each image forming function; the sub-control section that is connected to the main control section and exerts image formation control including the temperature control of a fixing device; and the fixing device directly connected to the sub-control section and subjected to the temperature control. In the image forming apparatus, the sub-control section after a power source is turned on starts the temperature control of the fixing device before receiving a fixing control method instructed by the main control section.
