<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protective device for improving the design of the front side of a front passenger seat, even if knees of an occupant of the front passenger seat can be protected, by arranging a housing box in front of the front passenger seat. <P>SOLUTION: This occupant protective device S comprises a knee protective air bag device 11, the housing box 60 arranged above the air bag device 11 and housing a housing object and a trimming member 8 for surrounding the rear surface side periphery of the housing box. The knee protective air bag device 11 has an air bag 39, an inflator 31, a case 12 for housing the air bag and the inflator and opening the vehicle rear side and an air bag cover 44 for openably covering an opening 13a of the case 12. The housing box 60 has a box body 61 for opening the vehicle rear side and a lid 73 for covering an opening 61a of the box body so as to be freely opened and closed.
