<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protective device for reducing the number of part items, and improving workability in mounting even when mounting a housing box and a knee protective air bag device for protecting knees of an occupant seated on a front passenger seat in front of the front passenger seat. <P>SOLUTION: This occupant protective device S has the knee protective air bag device 11 for protecting the knees of the occupant in a collision of a vehicle and the housing box 60 for housing a housing object. The air bag device 11 has an air bag 39, an inflator 31, a case 12 for housing the air bag 39 and the inflator 31 and an air bag cover 44 installed in the case 12 by openably covering an opening 13a of the case 12. The housing box 60 has a box body 61 and a lid 73 for covering an opening 61a of the box body 61 so as to be freely opened and closed.
