PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material processing apparatus capable of inwardly turning down the end parts of a long sheet material in a cylindrical shape successively and continuously. SOLUTION: The sheet material processing apparatus has a function for successively and inwardly turning down the end parts of the long sheet material S continuously supplied from a sheet supply means 1 into the cylindrical shape. Since this apparatus is equipped with a slit forming means 2 for forming slits S1 to the end parts of the sheet material S at predetermined intervals before turning down the end parts of the sheet material S, after the slits are formed in the end parts of the sheet material preliminarily at the predetermined intervals by the slit forming means, the end parts of the sheet material between the slits are subsequently turned down inwardly and the turned-down end parts of the sheet material are separated from the end parts of the sheet material through the slits provided before and behind the end parts to become an independent state.
