PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To zeroize a standby consumption current for a protection circuit and reduce impedance in a charge/discharge circuit. SOLUTION: A battery pack with a built-in protection circuit for opening a battery 8 to protect it when abnormal heat is generated, comprises a bimetal switch 4 having a normally closed contact and a normally open contact to open/close at an abnormal temperature by sensing the temperature, a heater 14 thermally coupled to the bimetal switch 4, and a protection circuit 10 for controlling current-carrying for the heater 14 in response to a voltage at an external terminal 2 by comparing the voltage thereof with a reference voltage 11, connects normally closed contacts 5, 6 between the external terminal 2 and the battery 8, connects normally open contacts 5, 7 between the external terminal 2 and a power supply terminal of the protection circuit 10, zeroizes the consumption current for the protection circuit 10, and reduces the impedance in the charge/discharge circuit by the main body of the battery 8 and the bimetal switch 4.
