PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic focusing control method capable of excellently focusing a photographic scene that is hard for servo AF control to handle, and to provide an image recording device. SOLUTION: Automatic focusing control is realized by providing an AF switch button (a portion of an operation part 58) which switches lens movement control from: the servo AF control wherein a focusing position is searched for during moving picture photography by constantly moving a photographic lens 12; to one-shot AF control wherein the photographic lens is stopped at a target focusing position to lock focusing. To avoid a photographic scene that is hard to handle for the servo AF control or a failure in putting the photographic lens 12 in focus, the AF switch button is switched from the servo AF control to the one-shot AF control and then excellent focusing is realized.
