PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader head which can be made thin in thickness, can reduce power consumption and can obtain a clear image. SOLUTION: This image reader head is provided with a flat head part 2 having a light transmission part 22, an opposite face facing a reading object and a cavity 21 inside; a light emitting diode 41 disposed in the cavity 21 and having a light emitting surface 411 for emitting light that transmits the light transmission part 22 toward the reading object on the opposite face facing the reading object; and a reflective mirror 44 disposed in the cavity 21 and for reflecting reflected light from the reading object toward the outside of the head part 2 in the direction almost parallel to the light emitting surface 411 of the light emitting diode 41. The light emitting diode 41 and the reflective mirror 44 are disposed such that the light from the light emitting diode 41 reaches the reading object without being made incident on the reflective mirror 44.
