PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat lamp structure whose life time is improved by effectively eliminating collisions passing through an insulation layer. SOLUTION: The flat lamp structure is constituted of a gas discharge chamber, a fluorescent substance, a discharge gas and a plurality of electrodes. The fluorescent substance is mounted on the inner wall of the gas discharge chamber, with the discharge gas being packed in the discharge chamber. The electrodes are disposed on the outer wall of the gas discharge chamber. The gas discharge chamber is constituted of an insulation base material, a plate and a plurality of strips. The plate is disposed above the insulation base material, the strips being disposed between the plate and the insulation base material, thereby connecting the ends of the plate and the insulation base material.
