PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the outer peripheral shape of a winding magnetic tape by which the deformed amount of the outer periphery shape of the magnetic tape can accurately be measured. SOLUTION: This device is composedd of a sensor 12 detecting displacement of a magnetic tape outer peripheral plane 22 in the direction of radius of a reel 19 and outputting the displacement data signal, a timing detecting mechanism 15 detecting timing at which the reel 19 is rotated one round and outputting the timing signal, and a displacement calculating mechanism 16 calculating displacement of the magnetic tape outer peripheral plane 22 while the reel 19 is rotated one round based on the displacement data signal and the timing signal.
