PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device realizing energy saving by using low-temperature fixing toner, having long heating width, lowering torque and yielding an image free from blurring. SOLUTION: The fixing device is equipped with a pair of endless belts (13 and 15), and a recording material (18) is held and carried between the endless belts. In such a case, while the recording material is electrostatically brought into contact with either belt, a toner image on the recording material is brought into contact with the other belt and heated. After carrying the recording material while maintaining such a contact state continuously and radiating heat therefrom, a toner surface is separated from the belt. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
