PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition which improves the wet performance of a synthetic rubber composition for a tire comprising a diene rubber having an SBR as the major component, furthermore the wet performance and the rolling resistance. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. diene rubber containing a styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber (SBR), 10-40 pts.wt. cyclodextrin or sucrose, and 2-25 wt.%, based on the cyclodextrin or the sucrose, sulfur-containing silane coupling agent.
