Laying down of multi-axially oriented web, especially of multi-filament yarns, includes use of guide tubes for longitudinal yarns up to consolidation zone

A web has an upper (92) and lower (91) layer of diagonally placed yarns that are carried on hooks on transport chains. Longitudinal or bow-shaped yarns (93) are introduced through shielded guides that extend right up to the zone (1) where the web is consolidated, e.g. by warp knitting. The guides can be tubes (42) or a flexible ribbed film. The yarns (93) are conveyed through the guides by compressed air. An Independent claim is also included for the corresponding plant installation, including chain conveyors between which the transverse layers (92, 91) are tensioned, and adjustable feed rollers (41a, 41b) and guide tubes (42) for the longitudinal yarns (93). To obtain bow-shaped longitudinal yarns the guide tubes (42) are mounted on a reciprocating carriage near the consolidating zone.
