A rotating brush for a road sweeper is mounted on a support frame (2) hinged on the chassis with one end (1) and held by a pendant hydraulic strut (4) at the other end. The brush is powered by an integral hydraulic motor (6). The pressure side of the motor is connected to the hydraulic strut in such a way that the working pressure of the brush onto the road is automatically controlled. The hydraulic strut lifts the brush off the road when the hydraulic motor is switched off.
