PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an apparatus in size and cost by arranging a means of transmitting a force of feeding a member to be recorded on one side and a means of transmitting a force of feeding a member to be read on the other side, in an image reading and recording apparatus such as a facsimile machine. SOLUTION: The image reading and recording apparatus 91 is provided with a transfer motor 104; the means 151, 152 for transmitting a force of feeding a member to be recorded which transmits a driving force of the transfer motor to a recording paper feeding unit for feeding recording papers; recording unit which records an image on a recording paper fed from the recording paper feeding unit; reading unit which reads the image of an original fed from the original feeding unit for feeding originals; the means 155, 158 for transmitting a force of feeding a member to be read which transmits the driving force of the transfer motor to the original feeding unit; and transfer roller 10 which transmits the driving force of the transfer motor from one of the means 155, 158 to the other of them. The means 151, 152 are arranged on one of a recording region on which a recording unit 46 records an image on a recording paper, and the means 155, 158 and the transfer motor are arranged on the other side, and the means 151, 152 is connected to the transfer motor.
