The conveyor for moving spaced objects (4) from one handling station to another (3,5) has a conveyor stretch (2) having a decelerator (6) with controllable speed, a conveyor (7) which cannot be backed up and also a conveyor (8) which can be backed up to transfer the objects to the second handling station (5). The decelerator is controllable through a backlog alarm (15) which is preferably mounted directly in front of the second handling stage. A second backlog alarm (16) can be provided to ensure emergency switch-off.
