<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a failure of a high voltage power source device in the case of turning on the high voltage bias of one polarity before that of the other polarity is sufficiently lowered in switching the polarity of output bias and in the case of simultaneously turning on the high voltage bias of both polarities by a malfunction of a CPU. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus and the high voltage power source device possessing a load current detecting means having a plurality of high voltage generating parts and to detect an electric current made to flow in a load by the application of DC output voltage and an overcurrent protective means to stop the operation of the high voltage generating parts in the case that the load current detecting means detects an abnormal electric current, a protective means to stop the operation of one high voltage generating part until the DC output voltage generated by another high voltage generating part becomes equal to or lower than specified voltage is constituted by using the overcurrent protective means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
