<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method capable of providing a closed loop type pressure control to the shift clutch actuator of a power transmission automatically performing a gear shift operation. <P>SOLUTION: In this method of controlling the hydraulic shift clutch actuator of the power transmission having electronic control equipment for energizing solenoid valves to control the hydraulic operated clutch actuators and automatically performing the gear shift operation, pressure sensors are installed to detect hydraulic pressures Ps to the clutch actuators, and electric signals are sent to a TCU. In this case, the TCU receives clutch pressure instruction signals Pc from the power train electronic computer of a vehicle.
