PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for cooling and solidifying molten plastics, which enables stable operation regardless of shapes of plastics to be treated and reduction of treating cost without scaling up of the apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for cooling and solidifying molten plastics is composed of a container 12 for holding the molten plastics 60, a conveying unit 24 for supplying the molten plastics 60 from the container 12 and a belt cooler 48 receiving the molten plastics 60 from the conveying unit 24. The method comprises the steps of removing foreign matter from the plastics discharged from the container 12 by a strainer 22, controlling the supply amount from the conveying unit 24 to the belt cooler 48 by a supply control unit 32 and maintaining the temperature of the plastics 60 supplied to the belt cooler 48 by a heating and cooling unit 33 in the range so as to keep fluidity.
