PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading/recording apparatus capable of realizing downsizing and cost reduction of an apparatus body by selecting the required minimum number of drive sources and attaining highly accurate image reading and high quality image recording. SOLUTION: The image reading recording apparatus 91 includes: a recording section for moving a recording region of recording paper on which an image is recorded and recording the image on the recording paper; a read section that can be moved between a read position for reading the original and a standby position apart from the read position; moving means 155, 156, 157 for moving the read section to the read position with driving force of a carrier motor 104 when the recording section is located at an out-recording region at the outside of the recording region; and a carrier roller 10 receiving the driving force of the carrier motor from a driving force transmission path up to the read section 28 via the moving means from the carrier motor, carrying the recording paper to the recording section, and carrying the original to the read section.
