PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter for cutting off a plate-shaped workpiece which can increase a cutting efficiency, can remarkably prolong the life of a rotary blade, and can effectively prevent cut chips from damaging the cut workpiece after cut. SOLUTION: In the cutter 20, the plate-shaped workpiece 11 is cut off by the rotary blade 21. During the cutting, cut chips are removed by ejecting a gas or liquid onto a part of the blade 21 exposed outside of the workpiece 11.
