METHOD FOR REDUCING CHROMIUM CONTAINING RAW MATERIAL

A method for reducing a chromium containing raw material, which comprises subjecting a mixture comprising the chromium containing raw material and a carbonaceous reducing agent to radiation heating in a movable hearth furnace to reduce the material, wherein the mixture is heated at an average rate of temperature elevation of, preferably, 13.6°C/s or more, for the period of time from the beginning of the radiation heating to the time when the temperature of the mixture reaches 1114°C. The method allows the enhancement of the reduction percentage of chromium.
