<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is a tandem type color image forming apparatus, includes an intermediate transfer belt, has a scale on the belt, detects the speed of the surface of the belt by reading the scale with a sensor, and corrects and controls the belt speed by use of the result, wherein speed fluctuations of the intermediate transfer belt are reduced by a simple means reagardless of modes and thus color shifts are prevented. <P>SOLUTION: A correction control parameter is set according to the modes (cardboard mode, OHP mode) for varying the belt speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
