PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely fix an optical fiber on a V-grooved substrate or the like without changing the outer diameter of the optical fiber by using the optical fiber having no coating film on the side face part when fixing the optical fiber on the V-grooved substrate. SOLUTION: A working surface is formed in the front end of the optical fiber, and the working surface is provided with a coating film having prescribed optical characteristics, and the range of sticking to the side face of the coating film is set to≤0.5mm from the front end.
