PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working method for efficiently performing the radius bending of a workpiece by using a ironing and bending machine, and to provide a controller therefor. SOLUTION: The working method for performing the radius bending of a workpiece W with the ironing and bending machine which is provided with a bottom die 3 with which the plate-shaped workpiece W is freely supportable, a top die 5 with which the workpiece W is freely pressed and fixed to the bottom die 3 and which is freely vertically movable and a bend die 7 with which the projecting part WP backward of the workpiece W clamped with the bottom die 3 and the top die 5 is upward bent comprises: a stage (a) where the top die 5 is elevated approximately simultaneously with the start of descent of the bend die 7 after upward bending the projecting part WP of the workpiece W; a stage (b) where the movement and the positioning of the workpiece are performed simultaneously with the start of the ascent of the top die 5; a stage (c) where the projecting part WP of the workpiece W is upward bent after the workpiece is again pressed and fixed with the top die 5; and a stage (d) where the process from the stage (a) to the stage (c) is repeated by the preset number of times.
