PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron gun equipped with a strong prefocused lens by way of narrowing a substantial interval between an accelerating electrode and a focusing electrode while restraining degradation of high-voltage quality, and a cathode-ray tube using it. SOLUTION: A control electrode 10, the accelerating electrode 11, and the focusing electrode 12 are each equipped with an electron beam passing hole 10h, 11h, 12h for letting pass electron beams emitted from a cathode 9. A concave part 16 is formed on a face of accelerating electrode 11 on the side of the focusing electrode 12. A convex part 17 is formed on a face of the focusing electrode 12 on the side of the accelerating electrode 11. Further, a top face part of the convex part 17 is positioned in a state further getting into the concave part 16 than a flat part of the accelerating electrode 11 where the concave part 16 of the focusing electrode 12 is not formed.
