METHOD FOR PRODUCING MESITYLENE AND DURENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simultaneously producing mesitylene and durene, by using pseudocumene as a starting material, without using other compounds. SOLUTION: This method for producing the mesitylene and the durene comprises only using the pseudocumene as the starting material and continuously treating the pseudocumene at 210-400°C under a pressure of 1-50 bar at a weight hourly space velocity of 0.1-20 hr-1in the presence of a catalyst containing a crystalline metal silicate in an acidic state as a base material. The mesitylene and the durene are recovered from a crude reaction product, then a part of a residual component of the crude reaction product is recycled and fed into a reactor together with the pseudocumene.
