PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for shaping a glass sheet, which is related to the glass sheet production apparatus based on a fusion down draw system and satisfies various characteristics such as high temperature thermal resistance so that production can be performed for a long period of time; and to provide a method for shaping the glass sheet, which is related to a method for shaping the glass sheet using the glass sheet production apparatus. SOLUTION: The glass sheet shaping apparatus is equipped with a molten glass flow rate control structure 10 which has a molten glass supplying groove 11 having a trough-like shape and an opened upper part, at the top part, and uses, as the bank of overflow, the top parts 10a of the both sidewalls of the molten glass supplying groove 11, and in which the cross section of the outer face part 10c of the both sidewalls is made closer downward in a wedge form. In the glass sheet shaping apparatus, the molten glass is fed from one end of the molten glass supplying groove 11, allowed to overflow from the top parts of the both side walls, and allowed to flow down along the both side walls so as to shape the glass sheet. The glass sheet shaping apparatus is characterized in that the central part of the lower end 10b of the molten glass flow rate control structure 10 whose cross section is the wedge form is formed into a curved shape recessed upward.
