PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading and recording device capable of being constructed small and at low cost and conveying manuscripts and paper sheets certainly. SOLUTION: When a manuscript sheet 12 is to be conveyed by a first conveying means 15, a second conveying means 19 is stopped in a position not intruding between a lower guide member 23 and an upper guide member 14, and when the upper guide member 14 is pressed by the manuscript 12, the upper guide member 14 is located by the second conveying means 19 in such a position where the second conveying means 19 does not intrude between the lower guide member 23 and the upper guide member 14.
