It is possible to improve user-friendliness of an online storage service by making an online storage area usable for data file passing without casing a security problem. A private mail box area (12) is arranged in a storage area of each member. When a member (2) receives a data file from a user (5), the member (2) registers the user (5) as an invited person. When the user (5) is registered as the invited person, an invitation mail is sent to the user (5) registered as the invited person. The user (5) who has received the invitation mail accesses the URL described in the mail and performs authentication according to the information described in the mail. When the authentication is established, it is possible to upload the data file into the private box area (12) in the storage area (10) of the member user (2).
