<p>A steam iron equipped with a soleplate (10) made of a heat-conducting surface with holes (44). Water is heated in three ways; the iron is fitted with at least one element, one manual control to release steam through the holes and a steam generator to provide extra steam. The generator is made of several steam chambers (26, 28, 30, 32, 34 & 36). A pre-defined quantity of water is trickled into the first chamber and produces a partial steam output in the last chamber (42). The rest of the steam gets progressively hotter as it travels through the generator's chambers. It is subsequently released through the holes connected to the last chamber. Each chamber is linked to the next one via a calibrated passage (38).</p> |
