The swimming pool is provided with an image processing system with at least one detector (2.1 to 2.4) connected to an evaluation unit. The detectors are cameras with a total visual range covering the entire swimming pool (1). The evaluation unit is able to detect a human body, and/or lifeless bodies. Independent claims are included for an apparatus including a swimming pool and a system; a method of detecting drowning persons; and the use of an image processing system for detecting drowning persons.
