Method for removing rocks from bucket dredger using radial arms on a rotating mounting to deflect away from the conveyor belt

A method for protecting the conveyor system of a bucket dredger from boulder damage has a pattern of radial arms forming a rotating roller through which the dredged material is sifted. The roller is assembled from a number of disc units, each with three radial arms equally spaced and with the spacing between adjacent disc units representing the maximum size of stones dropped onto the conveyor belt. The larger boulders are deflected by the rotating arms and drop into a boulder collecting container. The sifting system is on a swivel mounting and is swung into position when working on rock bearing strata.
