<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a sprocket of excellent wear resistance at low cost, and the sprocket. <P>SOLUTION: This method comprises a step of pressing a low-carbon steel plate containing carbon of≤0.25% in a shape of a sprocket 1, and a hardening step of heating a tooth part 4 in the sprocket 1 formed of one pressed member by an induction heater at the temperature not lower than the A<SB>3</SB>transformation point, quenching it within 0.5 second at the temperature not higher than 500°C, and hardening it to the theoretically highest hardening hardness so that the hardness of the tooth part 4 is 35-55 in the Rockwell C hardness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
