PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector whose cost can be reduced and which is equipped with an outer case superior in design. SOLUTION: The projector is provided with a light source and a light modulator which modulates a light flux emitted from the light source corresponding to image information and forms an optical image and performs magnifying projection of the optical image formed by the light modulator. Further the projector has a casing 2 for housing a device main body including the light source and the light modulator. The casing 2 is provided with face-shaped bodies 11, 12 which are made of a synthetic resin and which cover the device main body and a metallic frame body 31 attached to the face-shaped bodies 11, 12. The casing 2 incorporates the face-shaped bodies 11, 12 and the frame body 31 and thereby the frame body 31 can bear external force or the like.
