摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a definition of a picture acquired from an image sensor. SOLUTION: An image sensor 12 is covered by a color filter array 13 and each photosite of the image sensor 12 forms a color value only for one color respectively. An image signal formed by the image sensor 12 is digitized and interpolated by a digital signal processor 22. An additional luminance value over a pixel which lacks a luminance value (Greene) in interpolation processing by interpolation of luminance value of pixels adjacent to the pixel. The processor 22 has interpolators corresponding to each of an first image region of which a vertical direction indicates a dominant scene structure, a second image region of which a horizontal direction indicates a dominant scene structure, and a third image region which is not any one. And it compares a threshold level by acquiring gradients respectively from difference of the luminance value about the horizontal and the vertical directions, and chooses an interpolator based on the result of the comparison and performs interpolation.
