PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ten key pad capable of improving operability for simultaneous operations of a numerical input and a character input in the case of externally attaching the ten key pad to a notebook type personal computer to use it. SOLUTION: The ten key pad 1 comprises a plurality of input keys 4 arranged on the surface of a case 3 and a control circuit 5 for outputting a signal corresponding to the operation of each input key 4. On the key pad 1, the practical operation of the input keys 4 is processed as if input operation based on ASCII codes is performed and a numerical value is inputted by ASCII code conversion input utilizing the ASCII codes. In the ten key pad 1, an ASCII code conversion input using the ASCII codes is used for the input of numerical values. Thereby a numerical value can be inputted by the input keys 4 of the ten key pad 1 independently of a state that the personal computer is in a number lock mode or not. In the case of simultaneously performing a character input from the keyboard part 13 of the personal computer and a numerical input from the ten key pad 1, it is unnecessary to switch the mode of the personal computer to the number lock mode in each input of a numerical value, so that operability can be greatly improved.
