PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair-type massage machine capable of reducing deviation of the protruding quantity of operating fingers after the completion of tapping massage. SOLUTION: The chair-shaped massage machine is equipped with a massage unit 20 movable up and down along the longitudinal direction of the backrest 12 of a chair on which a person to be treated sits, the treating fingers 30 and 30 which are supported on the massage unit 20 and can be subjected to forward and backward reciprocating operation, the tapping shaft 50 almost horizontally arranged to the massage unit 20 to be rotated by a tapping motor 51 and the rods 55 and 55 which are connected to the tapping shaft 50 so as to be mutually shifted in phase by 180°and connected to the treating fingers 30 and 30 at their other ends to alternately operate the treating fingers 30 and 30 forwardly and backwardly by the rotation of the tapping shaft 50. In this massage machine, a protruding quantity detecting means 90 for detecting the protruding quantities of the treating fingers 30 and 30 is provided and the tapping motor 51 is stopped when the protruding quantity detecting means 90 detects such a state that the protruding quantities of both treating fingers 30 and 30 coincide with each other.
