Transponder unit for implantation

To produce a transponder for implantation, an ampoule (10) is prepared with an open end (12), and outer (14) and inner (13) wall, to be filled partially with a liquid material (18) such as a PVC adhesive which can be hardened by ultra-violet light. The electronic transponder (20) is inserted into the liquid (18) so that the transponder (20) is wholly shrouded by it (18). The liquid (18) is then set and hardened.
