<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten down time, to reduce toner consumption as a patch image and also to output stable image density. <P>SOLUTION: Suppose that the ATR of a patch detection system is performed when image forming for 1,000th sheet from previous density control is completed, and the correction toner quantity at that time was 2g. The toner consumption at the time of the image forming for an A4-sized sheet whose image ratio is 20% is about 75mg, and since the upper limit of a toner replenishment quantity in the image forming for one sheet is set as 400 mg, the correction toner quantity is reduced by 325 mg from 2g for each sheet of image forming. Therefore, the correction toner quantity becomes zero at the time of finishing the image forming for seven sheets. In post-rotation at the time of finishing the image forming for the 1,007th sheet, image density control is performed.
