<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protective device for maximally smoothly housing a large housing object by restraining reduction in a housing space of a housing box, even if knees of an occupant seated on a front passenger seat can be protected, by arranging a housing box in front of the front passenger seat. <P>SOLUTION: This occupant protective device S has a knee protective air bag device 11 for protecting the knees of the occupant of the front passenger seat and the housing box 60 for housing the housing object B. The knee protective air bag device 11 has an air bag 39, an inflator 31, a case 12 for housing the air bag and the inflator and opening the vehicle rear side and an air bag cover 44. The housing box 60 is arranged by inclining a bottom wall 62 for supporting the housing object B by an upper surface 62e so that the front edge 62a side is positioned below the rear edge 62b side.
