The gear selector unit for the simultaneous selecting of two sliding sleeves (1,2) has a rotatable gear selector drum (6), a selector fork (5) for the simultaneous movement of the two sliding sleeves, and two driving elements through which a rotational movement of the selector drum is converted into a translational movement of the selector fork. One driving element (9) is for displacement of the selector fork in one longitudinal direction, and the other (10) for displacement in the opposite direction. The driving elements are arranged so that the initiation of selecting force in the selector fork takes place asymmetrically.
