PURPOSE: A method for urgently receiving data from a facsimile is provided to stop communication with the first party if data should be urgently received from the second party, and to receive the data from the second party, so that a user can receive an urgent message from a designated party while communicating with other party. CONSTITUTION: A system decides whether to urgently receive data from the second party while communicating with the first party(10). If so, the system stops communicating with the first party, and receives the data from the second party(12). The step of deciding whether to urgently receive the data from the second party comprises the steps as follows. The system decides whether a contact request signal is received from the second party while communicating with the first party. If so, the system decides whether an urgent reception function is enabled. If so, the system stores a telephone number of the second party. The system decides whether an urgent receiving of the telephone number is permitted and the number is a preset urgent telephone number. If so, the system stops communicating with the first party, and receives the data from the second party.
