<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor controller, wherein the switching elements of a power converting portion, such as a three-phase inverter, can be utilized up to the thermal limit, thereby expanding the operating range of a motor. <P>SOLUTION: A preset limit temperature Ts is compared with a computed junction temperature Tj. If Tj > Ts, processing is carried out for reducing the junction temperature Tj so that Tj ≤ Ts.
