<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition and develop a method of diagnosis and treatment regarding the growth and propagation of tumor cells in a mammalian animal including human. <P>SOLUTION: This method for treating the tumor is based on the identification of a gene propagated in a genome of the tumor cells. Such gene amplification is expected to be associated with an excessive expression of the gene products as compared with that of normal cells of the same tissue type, and contribute the tumor formation. Therefore, a protein encoded in the amplified gene is considered to be useful for the diagnosis and treatment (including the prevention) of a certain kind of cancer, and acts as predicting the prognosis of the tumor treatment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
